CIA Steps up "Preemptive Drone Attacks" in Pakistan
Sep/100
The Wall Street Journal, in this article, reports:
- The Central Intelligence Agency has increased missile strikes against militants in Pakistan’s tribal regions
- The “missile strikes” are actually drones.
- The drones are being used to preempt a possible “terror” attack on multiple countries, in the west including the U.K., France, and Germany.
- Quote: “The exact nature of the plot or plots couldn’t be learned immediately, and counterterrorism officials in the U.S., Pakistan and Europe are continuing to investigate. There have, however, been multiple terror warnings in recent days in France, Germany and the U.K.”
- “There are some pretty notable threat streams,” said one (unidentified) U.S. military official, who added that the significance of these threats is still being discussed among counterterrorism officials but that threats of this height are unusual.

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard: Shut Down the Fed
Sep/100
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard | The Telegraph
I apologise to readers around the world for having defended the emergency stimulus policies of the US Federal Reserve, and for arguing like an imbecile naif that the Fed would not succumb to drug addiction, political abuse, and mad intoxicated debauchery, once it began taking its first shots of quantitative easing.
My pathetic assumption was that Ben Bernanke would deploy further QE only to stave off DEFLATION, not to create INFLATION. If the Federal Open Market Committee cannot see the difference, God help America.
We now learn from last week’s minutes that the Fed is willing “to provide additional accommodation if needed to … return inflation, over time, to levels consistent with its mandate.”
NO, NO, NO, this cannot possibly be true.

Texas Straight Talk- Let’s Put Patients and Doctors Back in Control of Healthcare!
Sep/100
This week marks six months since Congress passed the healthcare reform bill in what has become all-too-typical legislative chicanery. Those in power crafted a mammoth piece of legislation and rammed it through Congress under a dire sense of emergency. Insisting on time enough to read the bill was dismissed as dangerous and crazy in a time of crisis. We were told that if we really wanted to see what was in the bill we would have to pass it first. I cannot imagine the Founding Fathers intended that Congress legislate in this manner. I would think if a member is not absolutely certain the entire legislation meets constitutional muster, the default vote should be “no” in accordance with our oath of office. But now that Congress has had six months to read the new law, there is a significant amount of buyer’s remorse on Capitol Hill.
